I Got Mine, Screw You
Newshounds (link) presents a revealing discussion broadcast today between Fred Barnes, Mort Kondracke, Brit Hume, and Dr. Krauthammer on Fox. Barnes, an editor at The Weekly Standard, complained that these tiresome victims of Katrina were expecting a bit too much to count on their insurance companies paying for their losses. Kondracke said that a tabloid should headline this storm :"Washington, D.C. to New Orleans: Drop Dead." This is exactly what the people in NO are doing right now. Inconceivably, Barnes actually repeated the idea that they could "drop dead". It seems that Barnes had to pay the deductible costs when his home in Florida was damaged in last year's hurricanes. Perhaps it would be advisable for him to use his journalistic skills to investigate abuses of insurance companies over wind damage. This sort of unconscionable, callous talk by these elite right wingers clearly shows how little they care about anyone or anything other than their own wallets. These talking heads are not willing to actually personally sacrifice anything whatsoever, not for the noble cause of Iraq, nor for their suffering countrymen and women in danger and distress. In the Bush "ownership" society, you're pretty much on your own, even when you desperately need help from your brothers and sisters.
