Heartbreaker

Above is a photo from the essay in Time magazine called "Honor After the Fall." It shows Katherine Cathey, recently widowed wife of her husband, Jim, sleeping before his coffin. Jim Cathey was killed by a booby trap in Al Karmah. On the night when his body was flown in for his funeral the next day, she refused to leave him. She is honored by a Marine guard as she sleeps. Why did this have to happen ?
